Commander’s Corner – Fall 2013

Greetings to all members of Post 9400.

As your new Post Commander for the coming year, I want to express what an honor and privilege it is for me to be working with such a fine group of hard working and dedicated people.  You all have placed your trust in me and I will do my very best to keep earning that trust by always doing what is in the best interest of the Post and the VFW.

I am particularly encouraged with the way the Post members, our Men’s Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary are working so well together.  We have many events and programs that we need to accomplish during the ensuing year and I am confident that by working together this way, we will perform them all to the best of our combined abilities.

I would like to give special thanks to R.J. Lancaster for stepping up, without being asked (that’s called volunteering) and working his tail off to find out what our membership would like to see and organizing some great new events and activities.  We now have golf weekly golf outings, bingo and some other interesting new excursions.

Please do not forget our Veterans Day Buddy Poppy Drive in November.  The more people that participate, the better we do.  As you are aware, many hands make the task easier for all.  If you want to participate, please contact our Buddy Poppy Chairman, Bill Talcott.  There is contact info in another section of this newsletter.

To those of you who have not been to the Post in a while, I recommend that you come down and see what we’ve been doing.  Take the time to look over the calendar or just stop by and see what’s up on the board.  There are many events or Post activities that could always benefit from some additional support.  Come to a Post meeting.  I promise to keep our business straight-forward and on-point.  You are members of the greatest service organization in the world.

Remember:  “We honor the dead by helping the living”.
