Another Memorial Day weekend has come and gone. A weekend when we take the time to remember our fallen comrades and the supreme sacrifice they made to keep us free.
To honor that sacrifice in a small way, Post 9400 participated in two Memorial Day services. The first was at the National Cemetery. There we took part in the parade of colors and wreath laying ceremonies. The other was at the Phoenix Memorial Cemetery where John Barnard and Tom Landy spoke.
It was a weekend that saw many post members generously give of their time and energy to collect Buddy Poppy donations at several Fry’s stores. Post, Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary members all took part. If early results are any indication, it was a banner effort with new collection records set at several stores. A huge thanks to all who participated.
The Post hosted a flag raising ceremony and an Open House on Monday. Attendance at both exceeded expectations. It was heart warming to see so many members, new and old, join together to pay tribute to our fallen heroes and enjoy the comradeship of one another’s company.
Thanks to the Post Color Guard, Ladies’ and Men’s Auxiliary, Buddy Poppy volunteers and our chef Vince Smith for making this Memorial Day a special one.
