No One Does More for Veterans
Joseph F Monfort VFW Post 9400 was founded in 1946 by returning World War II Veterans. Since its founding, the Post has been a leader in providing support for its members and the Phoenix Veteran Community at large. Our service officers are among the best at providing help, guidance and support in processing claims at the VA. Our VA hospital programs have provided both monetary support and serve as an entertainment venue for patients in both the long term and short term care facilities as well as the Arizona State Veterans Nursing Home. We have a wide array of outreach programs for vets, family of vets and the community at large and widely considered the most engaged VFW post in the state.
Our post facilities, nestled on the south side of North Mountain, in north central Phoenix, are ideally located and easy accessible from all parts of the valley. It features a Canteen and Meeting Hall, the focus of a wide array of social events including frequent pot luck dinners, fish fries and good old fashion comradeship. The Canteen is open from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week. It stocks a full range of hard and soft drinks, all at reasonable prices. It’s a great place to meet your comrades and entertain your guest. The meeting hall, fitted with a complete commercial kitchen, can accommodate any type of event with a capacity of up to 250 people. If you’re planning a private event, Post Members can rent the hall at special discounted rates. The Post’s social activities center around the monthly dinners supplied by our Ladies Auxiliary, augmented by a wide array of special events such as Super Bowl Parties, a Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day Open House and many, many others.
Post 9400 is also involved in a wide array of community outreach and youth programs. Buddy Poppy, Voice of Democracy Essay Competition, Honor Guard, Color Guard, Speaker programs, the sponsorship of youth athletic programs…the list goes on and on . Post 9400 Color Guard is especially well known, participating in local parades and flag raising events around the Phoenix metro area. All of the Post activities are supported by an active and involved Men’s and Women’s Auxiliary organizations.
Post Membership is broad and extensive, ranging from WWII Vets to those who have served in the recent conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan. The most important thing about becoming part of Post 9400 is that it is a strong, tight knit community. It’s a community based on the shared experience of having served our Country in wartime conditions. It is our home away from home. There is always someone to chat with, someone to share your ups and downs. If you have a problem or an issue there is always someone there to give you a helping hand or a word of encouragement or advice.
You don’t need to be a member to stop in and say “Hi”. The Post is located at 804 E Purdue Ave in north central Phoenix near 7th Street and Mountain View. Remember. we have all shared the same experiences and that creates a bond of brotherhood and sisterhood at Post 9400 that is unlike any other. We are here to help and serve.
