VFW 2017 Student Essay Competitions

Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Competition

Each year the VFW sponsors an essay competition for middle and high school students.  The Middle School program, Patriot’s Pen, is a written essay and the High School version, Voice of Democracy, is an oral essay. Students submit their entries and they are judged at the Post, District, State and National level with  various cash and scholarship awards at each level. This years themes are “America’s Gift to My Generation” and “American History: Our Hope for the Future”.

We ask each Post member to encourage a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, neighborhood kid to participate in this year’s programs.  Or, if you know a teacher who might be interested let us know so we can contact them and get their students involved.

Deadline for submittals to the Post is October 31st.
